Hello, my name is Fran Atkins and I have been egging for over 9 years now. Wow, how time flies when you’re having fun. One of the most beautiful people I have had the pleasure and honor of calling a friend introduced me to the art of egging, Karen Lusby. Karen would show me her decorated eggs and I would give them a passing glance, make an inane comment and move on. That is until one day she decided to teach a group of us how to ink a duck egg. I took to doing those eggs like, well, like duck to water. From there my husband taught me how to use the “man” tool, the dreaded Dremel, it took some doing but I soon became familiar with this tool and finally ended up with a Foredom to cut my eggs with.
Besides egging I enjoy reading, some would say to excess, but I prefer to say to the exclusion of other things at times. A good book, a jug of coffee, instrumental music in the background is about all I need to relax with. Other than reading I love to crotchet, my family never tires of the strange and unusual scarves I come up with for them. My husband is the proud owner of a triple thick 15 foot red and black tube scarf and a 20 foot orange and black tube scarf. Yes, he loves Dr. Who!
I am proud to say that I am owned by two Akita’s, Hotei and Hana. Both are trained Service Animals and they have saved my life numerous times. They are the true definition of gentle giants.
Last but not least, I have a very loving and devoted husband, Bob Atkins. We have been married for over 31 years and have known each other for 37 years. Bob will be the IEAG Newsletter Editor for the next two years and I will be helping him in this endeavor.
I look forward to working with Pat and the rest of the board in the next two years. I welcome any comments or suggestion you may have, please feel free to contact me.
