Past President (2005-2007)

Debbie Grassel

Debbie and her husband Steve live in Paige, TX. She brings a wealth of managerial and administrative experience gathered while working for the Department of Justice where she is a Trust Fund Supervisor. She plans on retiring in the next couple of months.

Steve and Debbie began raising Emus in the early ‘90’s while living in Bastrop, TX. The flock quickly outgrew their 3 acres and they moved to Paige, TX. After the bottom fell out of the Emu market she was collecting lots of eggs and knew they would be good for craft work. On periodic trips to the bank she noticed they had decorated eggs on display. After inquiring at the bank she learned the eggs were done by Pat Harding her country neighbor. Debbie contacted Pat and a fast friendship formed. Debbie says that Pat “taught me everything I know about egging, and I’m still learning”. By 1999, Pat had convinced Debbie to enter her eggs in the Masters Program. She is working to attain her Master of Egg Art after having attained several Masters Certifications. She frequently gets together with Dorothy, Dot and friends who meet in Burton, TX to egg. Debbie has been involved with the program since receiving training from Carol Ganzi as a judge. She currently is the Central Region Representative for the Master Program. She has taught classes, acted as a Steward for Masters Program Judgings and is a member of the Texas Guild of Eggshell Artists as well as the IEAG.
